head bump!

as part of our nursing curriculum, we are exposed to different areas in a certain hospital. aside from wards (onco ward, pedia ward, neuro ward etc.) we also have our duty in what they call 'SPECIAL AREAS' and 2 of my favorites are NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and OR (Operating Room).

in NICU, my biggest learning is:

having a baby is a big responsibility.

*i know it sounds so ordinary, but the thing is, i've seen several ladies of my age who already had their babies! and when i talk to them, the common reason is that they done "IT" with their boyfies! and they worry much that they may not be able to pay the bills. CS costs around 80k in some hospital and their boyfies are not man enough to face the consequences of their "acts" tsk.

*when a baby cries you must know WHAT THEY REALLY WANT. i am an only child and therefore had no experience at all in taking care of babies. i try my best to give them my 100%. hehe :D one time my baby girl cried so hard, i checked her DP: negative; fed her:failed; carried her like moms usually do: wrong move! i ended up resting her head on my chest and that was it! yun lang pala eh :)) babies seek those warm feeling, even though my drop light, hindi pala yun enough iba parin ang human warmth ;)

*
in bathing a baby, you must be quick enough! and be very careful in handling them. this was hard for a firs timer :P my baby girl kept on crying! if she can only talk siguro she was telling me na: "nurse! bilisan mo pa ngaa!" haha :)) i guess it took me 5-10 minutes, not bad? my baby didn't become hypothermic naman noh :p

-for non-medicall inclined peeps, hypothermic means the body temp is below than normal value ü

overall, i really enjoyed my stay in NICU, and im going to miss those cudde-worthy babies ü its fun to take care of them and treat them as if they were my own lil sis and bros :)

*my OR experience will be posted tomorrow ü
this is it for now, quite long na eh, hehe
goodnight peeps
Godbless ü
